Media Production AC
Media Productions AC (MPAC) is a CCA that aims to equip students with basic video editing skills, film appreciation and the documentation/archiving of various school events. It is dedicated towards serving the needs of the school community such as – Festival of Arts, IDEX, Founder’s Day, Cross Country, Honour’s Day and Teacher’s Day while providing live feed for chapel and other important school events throughout the year. A dedicated team of MPAC members provide videography and editing services for various school events. In 2018, MPAC decided to go biannual with its signature event “TwentyFour” a short filmmaking inter-school and JC level competition (sponsored by Blackmagic Design and NYAA). Participants of Twentyfour short film competition are required to conceptualize, film and edit a video on a pre- set theme within 24 hours. Throughout the year, MPAC organizes workshops and talks by well-known personalities from the film and broadcast media. In 2018, Mr Joe Phua from the BBC, Singapore shared his experience/footage of covering the 2018 World Cup Football in Russia and the Trump-Kim Summit in Singapore. Apart from occasional sharing by experts, students are provided weekly training sessions on scripting, editing and videography by local filmmaker Mr Wong Chi Kong from Kelvin Sng Productions Pte Ltd. MPAC members are also given the opportunity to participate in various film competitions such as National Youth Challenge, Climate Change Film Competition, SDMA and N.E. mation. Within the school, the MPAC team has successfully produced a documentary on Bishop Oldham to celebrate the 2018 Founder’s Day and the Honour’s Day Video – ‘Images 2018’ and the ‘Thanksgiving Chapel 2018’ video, covering 7 and a half years of Mr Hodge’s work. This year MPAC successfully collaborated with the Discipline committee to produce a short film “Rest Your Phone Day”. The dedicated team of MPAC members continuously work towards providing quality service to the school community. Besides serving the school community, Media Production AC (MPAC), provides the platform for students to discover their creative talents and further hone their skills with expert guidance in a relaxed and collaborative environment.
